A young leader from Fermanagh is set to represent the UK at a major international youth event after being selected from more than 1,300 applicants.
Tamzin Hall, a student at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, has secured one of just 35 UK places at the UK–Germany Youth Summit, a fully funded international summit taking place in Berlin from 19–22 March 2026.
The UK–Germany Youth Summit, titled “Resilient Democracies – Youth Shaping the Future”, will bring together young people aged 18–25 from the United Kingdom and Germany to explore how young people can play an active role in strengthening democracy and building more inclusive and resilient societies.

The summit will focus on themes including democracy in daily life, civic engagement, diversity and tackling disinformation. Participants will take part in creative workshops, peer-to-peer discussions and intercultural exchanges, while developing critical thinking, leadership and resilience skills.
Tamzin is a former participant of the Fermanagh Young Leaders Programme delivered by Fermanagh Trust, a grant-making charity which supports young people who want to make a positive difference in their communities. Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, the programme encourages young people to identify issues in their local area, research community needs, negotiate priorities and work collaboratively to create meaningful change. Participants also learn how funding works and gain experience in making grant and award decisions for local projects that support causes they care about.
Speaking about her selection, Tamzin said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in the summit in Berlin, especially exploring the theme of democracy and how young people can help shape the future. Being part of the Fermanagh Young Leaders programme really helped to build my confidence and my connections. I was able to draw on my negotiation, presentation and decision-making skills when completing my application. Building those skills has helped me and opened doors to opportunities like this Berlin Summit.”
The Fermanagh Trust is now inviting expressions of interest for its next Fermanagh Young Leaders Programme, which will begin in September 2026. Young people who are passionate about their community and interested in developing leadership skills are encouraged to apply. CLICK HERE
