Fermanagh Trust is delighted to publish and share our evaluation report for the ILM Level 3 Leadership & Management Programme, a leadership development initiative designed specifically for staff and volunteers working within the Community and Voluntary sector across Fermanagh and Omagh.

Through consultation with local community organisations, Fermanagh Trust identified a growing need for accessible, accredited leadership training that would help strengthen governance and build confidence among both existing and emerging leaders. In response, the Trust developed this programme in partnership with NICVA, who delivered the course content, with funding support provided by Halifax Foundation Northern Ireland.

Delivered across two cohorts in Enniskillen and Omagh, the programme provided participants with practical leadership tools and knowledge in areas including leadership styles, emotional intelligence, conflict management, problem-solving, team development and effective communication. The evaluation found significant improvements in participants’ confidence, leadership capability and ability to apply learning within their organisations. Participants also highlighted the value of networking with peers from across the sector and building relationships that will support future collaboration.

Commenting on the programme, Sonya Johnston, Deputy Director of Fermanagh Trust, said: “Through our engagement with local community and voluntary organisations, it became clear that there was a real demand for high-quality leadership training that was both accessible and relevant to the sector. The results of this evaluation demonstrate just how worthwhile this investment has been. Participants have reported increased confidence, stronger leadership skills and a greater ability to support their organisations, staff and volunteers. It has been particularly encouraging to see the connections and networks that have developed through the programme, creating benefits that will extend well beyond the classroom.”

The evaluation highlights the significant contribution the programme has made to strengthening leadership capacity across the Community and Voluntary sector, helping to build more resilient organisations and stronger communities throughout the region.
