Fermanagh Recreational Trust awards grants and bursaries to County’s sporting organisations and individuals

 

The Fermanagh Recreational Trust continues to support the County’s sporting talent, recently awarding grants to four organisations and three outstanding young people - supporting Olympic dreams and exciting new programmes.

The Fermanagh Recreational Trust, administered by grant making charity the Fermanagh Trust, supports the organisation, development and funding of sporting / arts-based activities and facilities in Co. Fermanagh with particular emphasis on young people and youth development. Constituted Sporting and / or Arts based Organisations or Individuals based in County Fermanagh may apply.

From their recent funding round the Trust is helping Enniskillen Running Club purchase new equipment for their Junior members. Other organisations supported include County Fermanagh Supercup NI is being supported to help 36 13-16 year olds receive an opportunity to engage in high quality footballing activities in Supercup NI this summer.

Rowers Ross Corrigan and Nathan Timoney are training full time at Cork with the National Team.  Ross has been selected to race for the 2023 season, aims to get placed within the top 7 at the World Championship and qualify for the Olympics. Nathan is putting Queens University on hold to move full time training to Cork and maximise progress towards the goal of Paris 2024 Olympics.  They will use their grants towards travel and training costs.

Wrestler Darragh Love is on the Under 23 and aiming to compete for Great Britain at the 2028 Olympic Games.  Darragh must travel monthly to Manchester and other training session in Coleraine, Carrickfergus and Dublin, plus fees for competitions and specialist kit.
