The Callagheen Wind Farm Fund, administered and managed by the Fermanagh Trust in partnership with Scottish Power Renewables, is now open for applications from community organisations in the Belleek and Garrison area.
The Fund awards grants to community projects located within 7km of the Callagheen Wind Farm, situated between Belleek and Garrison. Applications are welcomed from all aspects of community life, including economic, social, educational, environmental and recreational projects, with preference given to proposals that support sustainable local activities and have a positive impact on the local community.
Last year’s recipients demonstrated the wide range of ways the Fund supported local communities. Erne Music Club, Belleek CCE used its grant to deliver 10 weeks of adult music classes, while Friends of St Davog’s developed its school garden project and created a weatherproof outdoor learning hub.

Lakeland Community Care delivered health and wellbeing activities at Garrison Daycare Centre, while Erne Gaels GAC developed an accessible community garden. Little Smarties Pre-School used its award to support its Christmas activities and hygiene supplies, while Garrison Community Group delivered a summer programme including fishing, arts and crafts, futsal, surfing and Melvin Fest.
Funding also supported local facilities and community spaces. Devenish St Mary’s GAA Club purchased a new line-marking machine and underage training equipment, Melvin Recreational and Resource Complex developed a sensory room and Melvin Enterprises improved facilities at the Gilaroo Centre. Belleek Men’s Shed made improvements to its premises, while Belleek CIC created a new Genealogy, Reference and Research room at Belleek Library.
Cashel Community Association, Cashel Senior Citizens and Garrison Women’s Group used their awards to support programmes of activities, classes and events, while the Girls Friendly Society Garrison Branch delivered a programme of creative, educational and wellbeing activities. St. Martin’s Primary School used its funding to repair its polytunnel and support outdoor learning.

Last year’s projects showed the breadth of activity taking place locally, from health and wellbeing and youth activities to environmental projects, learning opportunities and improvements to community facilities. We would encourage eligible community organisations with an idea that could benefit local people to consider applying to the Fund.”
