The Oisín McGrath Foundation has reopened for applications, offering financial support to young people across Fermanagh and the surrounding area who are working to develop their potential in sport.
Established in memory of Oisín McGrath from Belcoo, the Foundation celebrates Oisín’s passion, energy and love of sport by helping young people overcome financial barriers that may otherwise limit their sporting opportunities. The Foundation is administered by The Fermanagh Trust.
For this funding round, the Foundation is accepting applications from individuals only. Applicants must be aged between 11 and 18 and resident in Fermanagh or the surrounding area.
Support can include bursaries to assist individuals in developing their sporting potential and support for sporting activities and events which will develop skills and potential in young people.
The latest funding round highlighted the wide range of sporting talent among young people in the area. Support was awarded to nine young people across rowing, gymnastics, motorsport, swimming and cheerleading.
Among those supported was Ryan Topping, a competitive rower with Enniskillen Royal Boat Club who has represented Ireland at international junior level, while Phoebe Rutledge and Sophie McGrath, both members of Splitz Gymnastics, received support to represent Northern Ireland at an inter-regional competition in Southampton.

Young minibike racers Charlie Forrester and Callum Fahy were also supported towards the costs associated with competing in Irish and British championships.
In swimming, Ellie Dunlop, who trains with Lurgan Swimming Club and is a member of the Ulster Regional Squad, received support towards training and competition costs, while Jakub Mikiewicz Lumayad was supported with training, coaching, competition and equipment costs following a successful period of competition.
Sarah Speer, who volunteers with Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club, received support towards swimming teaching qualifications which will help her develop her skills and take on greater responsibility within the club.
Also supported was Lana-Francesca McArdle, a 16-year-old member of Jets Cheerleading, towards the costs associated with competing at international level.
The Foundation aims to help young people pursue their sporting ambitions and gain valuable experience, skills and opportunities.
