Funding Available for Brookeborough Area from the Teiges Mountain Wind Farm Fund

Community groups in the Brookeborough, Knocks, and Cooneen areas are encouraged to apply for financial support as the Teiges Mountain Wind Farm Fund reopens for applications. The fund, established by leading wind farm owner and operator Energia Group, aims to ensure that the benefits of renewable energy extend beyond environmental gains to positively impact the local community.

Administered by the Fermanagh Trust, County Fermanagh’s community foundation, the Teiges Mountain Wind Farm Fund offers grants to community projects within a 5KM radius of the wind farm. Local groups can apply for small one-off grants up to a maximum of £2000, covering a wide range of activities including social, educational, cultural, and recreational programmes. In addition to these smaller grants, the fund also supports larger, multi-year strategic programmes involving partnerships between organisations, allowing for more sustainable and impactful community development initiatives.

Since the fund was launched in 2017, over £400,000 has been awarded to local organisations, supporting projects that directly benefit the local area. These projects have included the installation of life-saving defibrillators, enhancement of sports facilities, educational activities, historical and musical programmes, and a variety of social events that have brought communities closer together. Beneficiaries have also used funding for essential capital improvements, such as venue upgrades, with Brookeborough Playgroup being one of the many local organisations to receive funding.

Lauri McCusker, Director of the Fermanagh Trust, praised the wide-ranging impact of the fund: “We are delighted to see the positive impact this fund continues to have in the Brookeborough area. It’s wonderful to witness the diversity of initiatives that have already been supported, from life-saving equipment to enriching cultural and social activities. We strongly encourage local organisations, big or small, to apply and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.”

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 6th November 2024. For more information, guidelines, and to apply, CLICK HERE or contact the Fermanagh Trust by telephone at 028 66 320 210 or email secretary@fermanaghtrust.org.
