MEPs discuss Community Energy with Fermanagh Trust

The Fermanagh Trust were delighted to meet with a number of Sinn Fein representatives - 4 MEPs, MP and MLA to discuss the emerging opportunities for Community Energy and potential support from EU funding streams.

The discussion builds on the Fermanagh Trust's report 'Community Energy: Unleashing the potential for communities to power change' and the proposals emerging from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in relation to public sector led examples.

Lauri McCusker, Director of the Fermanagh Trust said "A number of countries within the EU have been at the forefront of Community Energy development. Our meeting with the 4 Sinn Fein MEPs explored linkages and development of opportunities. The EU can provide a supportive framework to develop Community Energy here. Linking this in with tackling fuel poverty is just one example of the huge opportunities that exist."
