Fermanagh Recreational Trust open for applications

 

The Fermanagh Recreational Trust, administered by the Fermanagh Trust is open for applications. The trust supports the organisation, development and funding of recreational activities and facilities in Co. Fermanagh with particular emphasis on young people and youth development.

Community, voluntary or sporting organisations or individuals based in Fermanagh can apply. Previous recipients include classical singer Andrew Irwin, footballer Matthew Smyth and Olympic hopeful rower Leonora Kennedy who all received help towards training, equipment costs etc which will help their future career.

Organisations supported include Erne West Wrestling Club which has been recognised by the Fermanagh Sports Advisory Committee as the best new developing club. Also supported by the fund is Enniskillen Tennis Club, a cross community club with 100 adult members and 100 junior members. The club are proud of their pro-active outreach activities in the community which they are keen to expand on. Fermanagh Milk Cup, Ballinamallard United Football Club and Enniskillen Rugby Club also received support from the Fermanagh Recreational Trust towards training, pitch hire, transport costs etc.

Potential areas of support include;
- Provision of equipment
- Provision of courses, training and coaching
- Contribution towards training or training costs
- Contribution towards the development of facilities
- Bursaries to assist individuals develop their potential
- Activities and events which will benefit young people

Pat Cassidy, trustee of the Fermanagh Recreational Trust said “This is a great opportunity for individuals in helping to develop their careers. For local organisations this is a chance to utilise and enhance their provision including training new volunteers and encouraging increased levels of participation by young people.”
