Major Conference on Shared Education

Fermanagh schools at the forefront of Shared Education. A major Conference on Shared Education organised by the Fermanagh Trust in partnership with Queens University of Belfast and the North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Primary Integrating/Enriching Education (PIEE) Project resulted in a very strong endorsement from the Minister for Education John O’Dowd.

Teachers sharing their expertise between schools

SCHOOLS participating in Fermanagh Trust's Shared Education Programme are this term taking another step forward in breaking down the barriers between education sites through the development of shared or exchange teacher projects. Director of Fermanagh Trust, Lauri McCusker, says the programme has been funding seven shared teachers or teacher exchange schemes since September across 21 schools in the County.

Shared Education Students Participate In Religious And Cultural Awareness

Students from St. Fanchea’s College, Devenish College, St. Joseph’s College and St. Mary’s High School, Brollagh recently visited local churches as part of a religious and cultural awareness project. The students participate in The Foundation Learning Programme (FLP) which is a Shared Education project. Among the churches visited were Saint Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen Methodist Church and St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church - also in Enniskillen.

Shared Education Body Needs Creative Thinkers

The draft Programme for Government has been issued and those of us working on Shared Education have been further motivated and reassured by the inclusion of two priorities: 1. The establishment of a Ministerial Advisory Group to explore and bring forward recommendations to the Minister for Education to advance Shared Education; and 2: To ensure that all children have the opportunity to participate in Shared Education Programmes by 2015 and substantially increase the number of schools sharing facilities by 2015.
