Strategic Aim 3 - "Sustaining Charitable, Community and Voluntary Sector and Peace Building Action Locally"
Rationale
The Trust is committed to supporting and developing the capacities and effectiveness of local charitable, community and voluntary organisations in Fermanagh in addressing community regeneration and reconciliation issues. The Trust has engaged with an extensive range of groups, both geographical and issue based since its inception in 1995 through its programmes of financial and innovative developmental actions. In all this work, the primary concern of the Trust has been in supporting effective community action, enhancing the local development and peace building process. The Trust will continue to pursue this priority under this strategy.
Several of the Key Actions under this strategic theme will continue and build upon the work commenced under our previous strategy ‘Making A Difference’. The key departures for the Trust under this strategy shall be a greater emphasis on sustainability within grass-roots organisations and assisting groups address this key challenge over the coming period, particularly through the application of I.C.T. Further, the continuing prevalence of the polarised political and religious geography in the County shall see a greater response through initiatives by the Trust. The Trust shall seek to foster community connectivity, respect, understanding and interdependence and an awareness of strength through unity.
The Trust shall continue to play a central strategic role in examining and drawing attention to the ongoing issues facing the community and voluntary sector within the County and how these issues can best be addressed. A clear commitment to a research function by the Trust shall be maintained.
