Strategic Aim 1 - "Building the Charitable Community Foundation Endowment"

Rationale

The key challenge for the Trust itself and the work we undertake within the County is sustainability.

There is a strong tradition of giving financial support to good causes locally. The Trust aims to harness the strong sense of giving, identity and place which exists in County Fermanagh and beyond both regionally and internationally, by developing a local Community Foundation which individuals and organisations large and small will identify with and support.

The Fermanagh Community Foundation Endowment Fund will be a vehicle for co-ordinating and matching donor interests and concerns from all sectors and spheres with local charitable, voluntary and community concerns, actions and initiatives. It will comprise a portfolio of funds that will enable the Trust to continue to provide financial and practical assistance to support charitable action, the building of social capital, active citizenship, peace building and quality of life within our community. This will assist the Trust in moving to an increasingly autonomous position.

Fundamental to the successful attainment of this strategic initiative during and up to 2006, shall be the cultivation, development and maintenance of relationships, linkages and communication with a range of donors and supporters near and far. Also, it shall be contingent on the utilisation of a range of fundraising approaches and techniques that link our internal capacities and strengths with the external donors and supporters needs, interests and motivations.

The Fermanagh Trust will strengthen its linkages and relationships with key strategic support and advisory groups regionally, nationally and internationally in order to learn from and apply best practice in all aspects of the endowment building process.
